BAPTISM PHOTOGRAPHER IN LEIRIA
Hello, I'm Jorge, I photograph baptism ceremonies and other similar ceremonies, regardless of your beliefs. I'm based in Leiria, but I photograph these ceremonies wherever they happen.

THE BAPTISMS I PHOTOGRAPH
These ceremonies mark the beginning of sharing a family belief and are therefore an important memory and deserve to be remembered.
Personally, I am not religious but I believe that we should all have the freedom to choose what is best for us. I choose to photograph people who love each other and these ceremonies are, in my opinion, a demonstration of love, from parents to children.
LIMITED AVAILABILITY
If you would like to consider me to photograph your child's christening, whether in the Leiria area or somewhere further away, then don't wait to get in touch!
In addition to baptisms, I photograph 20 weddings per year and as these ceremonies also usually take place on the weekend, my availability is limited.
I hate to say no to a family that cherishes the memories of these beautiful moments, but I still can't be in two places at once.
My photography service for baptisms starts at €450 for 5 hours of coverage. Every baptism is different, so tell me what you are planning so I can adjust the budget to your needs.

Frequently Asked Questions
I always want to keep my families very well informed about everything that happens in the process of photographing them, from the first contact, until everything is delivered.
If I miss something or if you forget, you know I am always available via email, message or phone call to clarify everything.

"Where can we see the prices for services?"
The basic cost of photographic coverage of a baptism is €450. On average, at the baptisms I photograph, families spend between €600 and €800 depending on the albums and printed products they want to add.
These are the general values they should keep in mind. For more details, just get in touch.
"Where can we see your Portfolio?"
Of the family photos, you can see some of my favorites here, but my Instagram is a good place to go to look at the most recent photos and other shares.
"What is the order of events if we decide to schedule with you?"
-
Initial email and response - You will send me an email via the contact form and I will respond with more information and suggesting that we set up a meeting. (Online is most popular these days, but if you want to grab a coffee nearby and chat in person, I love that too.)
-
Your decision - After our conversation and having all the necessary information with you, you will have to decide if you want me to be your photographer.
-
Quote, contract and down payment confirmation - I will send you a quote for you to accept, a service contract for you to sign and I will receive your down payment of €200. Only after this payment is received will the date be reserved for you.
-
Quiet period - From here on things will be calm until close to the baptism date but of course you are free to get in touch and ask whatever you need, even if it is related to the baptism in general and not specifically to photography. It may be beneficial for you to have an outside opinion from someone who has attended many baptisms to help you decide some things.
-
Meeting before the baptism - This usually happens about two weeks before the baptism, we will review the planned events and times to have everything aligned. I will also ask you for a list of your baptism day vendors.
-
Final payment - up to 7 days before the baptism, you must pay the remaining amount according to what was contracted. The only thing you will have to pay after the wedding will be travel costs (if applicable) or any products you want to add that you did not choose before.
-
Baptism day - I will be there at the agreed time to record your family happiness! I typically start about 1h30m before the ceremony to prepare and then I will capture all the moments within the contracted coverage hours.
-
Sneak Peek - Within 3 days after the baptism I will send about 10 edited images of important moments. This way you can share them with your family and friends!
-
Delivery of the complete gallery - Within 3 weeks your gallery will be complete with all the photos edited and ready to be viewed and shared with whoever you want. I typically deliver an average of 300-500 individually edited, high-resolution, print-ready photos. People you share your gallery with will be able to see all the photos you don't hide, and they'll be able to order prints of your favorite photos!
-
Album Design - If you have added a photo album to your service, then this is when I will create the initial design and send it to you within 45 days of the christening. You will have the chance to see your album online and leave your comments so we can adjust it to your taste. Two reviews are included. The goal will be to have all the elements ready to order the album and deliver it approximately 3 months after the baptism.
-
Closing the online gallery - Your gallery remains active for 6 months, starting from the date the photos are delivered. There is an option to maintain your online gallery for an annual fee. If you don't want this option you will have to make sure you download all the images and save them before the gallery closes. Don't forget to make a backup!
"How do you work on baptism day?"
My main objective is to record what happens throughout the day, interactions with those around you, reactions and emotions. I will capture good images without you noticing but there are times when we can take some more intentional photos. I will be more discreet during the ceremony so you can focus on enjoying it to the fullest, but I also enjoy chatting with you and your guests throughout the day.
"Are there any logistical issues we should take into consideration?"
These things are always adjustable but there are a few details to keep in mind:
-
The location of the preparation on the morning of the baptism is something to consider. Depending on how far you are from the ceremony location, we may have to arrange preparations earlier. I usually arrange it around 1h30m before the ceremony, taking into account a 10 to 15 minute journey from the preparation location to the ceremony location.
-
If you want to take more formal photos with all the guests, the ideal moment in my opinion is right after arriving at the party venue, during the aperitif. I usually allow about 10 minutes for every 50 guests. I try to streamline things to minimize the time it takes to make it happen, but this way it can be dealt with quickly if this is something important to you.
-
If you choose to have a shorter cover, we will have to coordinate a simulation of the cake cutting (if you want to take these photos) after we arrive at the party venue. To do this, it is important to notify the managers of the location and ensure that the cake is already there.
"Will you take at least one photo of each guest at the baptism?"
This is something I can't promise because it's simply not feasible (there are people who really make a point of not showing up) and if you spent your time with a list in your hand looking for specific people, you would certainly miss interesting moments that you want to make sure are photographed! My attention will be more focused on the baptismal child, who is around and what is going on, so I can tell you that the people who interact with the child the most will probably show up more often.
"Can we give you a list of photos we want?"
If you have already seen and know my work and you like it, then I don't need a list, in fact, I don't want one. I want to do what I usually do, look at people, their interactions and capture the moments. If you are thinking about a list for formal photos, because you want to guarantee some combinations of people, no problem, these photos are more "mechanical" and what matters is that the ones you consider important are taken, but in general during the baptism I want my eye and my creativity to be able to work without restrictions.
"So what if your camera breaks?"
I always carry multiple cameras, lenses, and accessories so I have options if one stops working.
"What if you get sick?"
Fortunately I have been a healthy person. I pay attention to the type of sport I do to avoid injuries, but bad luck happens to anyone. If I can't make it to the christening, I'll get in touch with my network of photographers so that someone I trust can go and photograph your day, hand me the files and I can take care of the rest. If you prefer, I can also refund your payments.
"Do you back up your photographs?"
Of course! I use machines that record on 2 cards simultaneously, this means that as soon as I shoot, I am making a copy. When I get home, I transfer the photos to my computer and make 2 more copies to save in different locations.
Pay attention because I can't guarantee that I will keep your photos forever! Disk space is limited, so please be careful to backup your final photos before the gallery closes.
"Do you also make videos?"
If you are looking for a complete video service, such as that of a videographer, then I am happy to recommend the videographer friends I usually work with, who are experts in this field. However, I have some video options, where I make some clips, with which I can create reels for you, or even do hybrid coverage of your wedding day. I also usually film some things to make the now very popular "behind the scenes" or BTS that people talk about so much.
"Can we add extra hours?"
Yes, if you feel it is necessary you can always add extra hours.
"Do you sell photos to guests on baptism day?"
No, for a very simple reason, I believe that the day of the baptism is to be spent socializing and not choosing photographs. The day goes by quickly and I hope you make the most of your guests’ presence.
"Do you do baptisms all over the country?"
Of course! Distance is not an obstacle to stop me from photographing happy people. I'll find a way to get to you. For trips to baptisms that exceed 50km from Leiria, the cost of the trip is added. These amounts, when applicable, are paid up to 3 weeks after the baptism.
"How many baptisms do you do per year?"
I do between 5 and 10 baptisms a year. It's a limited number as I also often have weddings taking up the weekends. ;)
Jorge was our photographer for my son's baptism and 1st birthday session, spectacular photos. Fantastic photos, I recommend it.
